Road to 2027
From the first tournament to East Africa
Seventy years between these two entries. We keep this short and only state what is on the record.
1957
The first tournament
Sudan hosted the inaugural Africa Cup of Nations in Khartoum. Three teams took part — Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan — and Egypt were the first African champions.
2027
East Africa
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda host the tournament together. CAF has not yet published the draw, the fixtures or the venues.

AFCON 2027
Travel to the Africa Cup of Nations in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda — arranged from anywhere in Africa and the diaspora.

Entry requirements. These are set by the immigration authorities of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and depend on your passport. Always verify against an official government source.
