Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International (JNB) has nonstop flights to all four East African gateways (checked September 2026): Kenya Airways and Airlink to Nairobi; Air Tanzania, Airlink and South African Airways to Dar es Salaam; Airlink and FlySafair to Zanzibar; and Uganda Airlines to Entebbe. That choice makes it easy to fly into one host country and home from another.
Cape Town (CPT) has fewer options: Kenya Airways flies nonstop to Nairobi, and Airlink has announced a nonstop Cape Town–Zanzibar service from October 2026. Other routings connect in Johannesburg or, with Ethiopian Airlines, in Addis Ababa.
English is one of South Africa’s official languages and is widely used across the three host countries, alongside Swahili. You will be spending shillings rather than rand (ZAR) on the ground, so confirm with your bank that your card will work in all three countries.
For South Africans, the yellow fever certificate matters most on the way home: South Africa requires one from travellers arriving from risk countries, its list includes Kenya and Uganda, and the vaccination must be given at least ten days before you travel to South Africa. Uganda also asks every arriving traveller for proof. Visa and entry conditions for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda turn on your nationality, and your quote from us includes them.

Airlines have not released AFCON-period schedules or fares. Rather than publish estimates that will be wrong, we quote your exact routing from South Africa on request, once your dates and matches are known.
Entry rules for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda depend on your passport, not your departure country. Uganda has announced a visa waiver for the tournament period whose rules are not yet published; Kenya and Tanzania have announced none. We confirm current requirements for your specific passport with your quote.

Who are you following?
Plenty of travellers leaving South Africa are following somebody else. Pick whoever you actually support — it changes which host cities matter for your trip.
Travelling together

Match tickets. Tickets are purchased through CAF’s official ticketing channel. Travel Ease provides ticket-purchase assistance. Tickets are not included in any package unless your written quotation specifically states otherwise.
Fixtures and venues. Fixtures, host cities and qualification are determined and published by CAF. We show them only once officially confirmed.
Entry requirements. These are set by the immigration authorities of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and depend on your passport. Always verify against an official government source.
