Cameroonian travellers leave from Douala (DLA) or Yaoundé-Nsimalen (NSI). Kenya Airways ended its Douala service in June 2026, and when we checked schedules in September 2026 neither airport had a nonstop flight to Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda. Every itinerary to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar or Entebbe therefore includes a change of aircraft.
Ethiopian Airlines flies to Addis Ababa from both Douala and Yaoundé, and on from there to all four East African gateways, which makes it the most flexible one-stop option. From Douala, RwandAir also connects through Kigali and EgyptAir through Cairo, while Turkish Airlines goes via Istanbul from either city. The right routing depends on where your matches are played, and CAF has not yet announced the host cities.
English and French are Cameroon’s two official languages, which gives English-speaking Cameroonians an easy time in East Africa; French speakers should plan on using English, with Swahili the common local language. The Central African CFA franc (XAF) is not the currency of any host country, so check before departure that your bank card is enabled for payments abroad.
Entry conditions depend on the passport you hold rather than where you board. Carry your yellow fever certificate: Cameroon is on WHO’s list of countries with yellow fever risk, so Kenya and Tanzania ask travellers arriving from it for proof of vaccination, and Uganda asks it of every arriving traveller aged one or over.
