Mombasa’s international airport on the mainland west of the island, with regional and charter traffic alongside domestic flights from Nairobi.
We meet you inside. Arrival transfers are part of every package, so you are met at the terminal rather than negotiating transport after a long flight. We do not publish a journey time — traffic makes any figure wrong for most of the day.

Match-day transport: no tournament shuttle, park-and-ride or stadium access arrangement has been announced for AFCON 2027, in Mombasa or anywhere else, so we do not promise one. We do not publish journey times either — traffic decides those, not us. Once venues and kick-off times are official we build your match-day movement into the itinerary and tell you exactly what it involves.
Getting around on your own
Ride-hailing apps
Uber and Bolt operate in Mombasa, mainly on the island and the north coast.
Tuk-tuks
Three-wheelers are the standard short hop on the island and along the north coast. Agree the fare before getting in — there is no meter.
The Likoni crossing
The ferry between the island and the south coast, and the only road route to Diani. It carries vehicles and foot passengers and can queue.
The SGR from Nairobi
The Madaraka Express runs between Nairobi and Mombasa. A comfortable alternative to the domestic flight, and it arrives outside the city.

- Good to know
- Mombasa is hot and humid year round, unlike Nairobi — pack for the coast, not the highlands.
- The coast is predominantly Muslim and the old town is conservative in dress. Beach resorts are relaxed; the old town is not.
- M-Pesa is used as widely here as in Nairobi, including by tuk-tuks and beach vendors.
- Kenya is a confirmed joint host of AFCON 2027, but CAF has not yet published the host cities, the stadiums or the match schedule. Until it does, nobody can say which matches will be played in Mombasa. We will say so here the day it is official, and we do not guess in the meantime.
- No. Match tickets for AFCON 2027 are sold by CAF through its own official channel, and Travel Ease is not a CAF partner, sponsor or ticket seller. What we do is help you get ready for the official sale and build the flights, accommodation and ground transport around the match you secure.
- It depends on what you are optimising for. The areas we place people in are Nyali, Bamburi & Shanzu, Mombasa Island & Old Town and Diani & the south coast. Because CAF has not named a stadium, we will not tell you an area is close to a venue — once the fixtures you are attending are known, we advise on where to base yourself for those specific matches.
- We arrange private transfer as part of any package, so you are met inside the terminal rather than negotiating transport after a long flight. Locally you will also find ride-hailing apps, tuk-tuks, the likoni crossing and the sgr from nairobi. We do not publish journey times, because traffic makes any figure we quote wrong for most of the day.
- Kenya operates an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA), applied for online before travel through the official government portal at etakenya.go.ke. Whether you personally need one, and on what terms, is set by the Directorate of Immigration Services, Republic of Kenya according to your nationality — check the official portal rather than relying on any travel company, including us.
- Accommodation in the host cities is not yet contracted for the tournament period, so there is no rate to lock today and anyone quoting you one is guessing. What is worth doing early is telling us your dates, your group size and the team you follow, so that we are sourcing against a real brief the moment rates are released.
