The gateways
Each host country has a main international airport, and they are not equally well connected to the rest of Africa.
- Kenya — Jomo Kenyatta International, Nairobi (NBO). The best-connected airport of the three, with the widest choice of direct routes from West, Central and Southern Africa. Moi International, Mombasa (MBA) serves the coast.
- Tanzania — Julius Nyerere International, Dar es Salaam (DAR) for the mainland, and Abeid Amani Karume International, Zanzibar (ZNZ) about twenty minutes away by air.
- Uganda — Entebbe International (EBB), roughly 40km from Kampala.
Moving between hosts
The three countries are neighbours, but that does not make overland travel practical for a tournament schedule. Regional flights between Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Entebbe are short and frequent, and they are how we route multi-country trips.
Road transport works well within a country — Kampala to Jinja, Nairobi to the Mara — and much less well across borders under time pressure.
Which base to choose
If your team is drawn in one country, base yourself there. If you are following a team through the rounds, or attending several fixtures, expect to move — and expect that movement to need internal flights rather than buses.
